Our Mission

It is very clear that without infrastructure students of GBPEC cannot achieve their dream of becoming world-class engineers. "My college, my pride" is always every graduate’s motto. Lack of infrastructure have affected our placement records. With a full fledged campus, we will be able to get well maintained classrooms, playground, hostels and good labs. Also good infrastructure will open the doors for other degree programs like M.Tech(being a govt. institution students will also get stipend) and Ph.D. Hostel and good infrastructure will allow students to study at subsidised rates and will make us technically well equipped.

Who we are?

We are a group of bright engineering students from G.B. Pant Government Engineering College . We are underprivileged citizens of this country, having high aspirations and potential and we have been denied our right for a campus for the past 10 years.

What is our problem ? Why is it an important one ?

We lack basic academic facilities, hostels, auditoriums, labs, playground and sports facilities which are the basic needs for any educational institution. We are functioning in an abandoned hostel building since 2007, and the construction of the campus have not started since a decade. Any government college that is established anywhere in India is supposed to be well equipped with all amenities. Our college presently has top ranking students and 43 UPSC selected permanent teaching faculty despite which we are not able to attract companies due to lack of a campus. All this is due to the neglect and ignorance shown by the government towards us.

Why should anyone care about this problem?

It is very clear that without infrastructure students of GBPEC cannot achieve their dream of becoming world-class engineers. “My college, my pride” is always every graduate’s motto. Lack of infrastructure have affected our placement records. With a full fledged campus, we will be able to get well maintained classrooms, playground, hostels and good labs. Also, good infrastructure will open the doors for other degree programs like M.Tech(being a govt. institution students will also get stipend) and Ph.D. etc. Hostel and good infrastructure will allow students to study at subsidised rates and will make us technically well equipped.

If institute is the problem why not opt for private institutes?

Government institutes have highly qualified faculty and staff apart from having low fees and a transparent admission process which ensures the high credibility of the college across the country. Because of this only a handful of students manage to secure a seat in any govt. institute. Being one of those handpicked students, we believe that we should atleast be provided with the basic adequate facilities from government instead of being asked to forfeit our hard-earned seats.

What are our demands?

We are demanding for a campus in at least 20 acres of land with all facilities like hostels, playgrounds, academic building, laboratories etc.

Why such basic demands have not been met already ?

Despite being aware of the fact that there are only 7 govt. engineering institutes in Delhi, our college being one of them, the government has forced 860 bright students to study in an abandoned hostel building every year since the past 10 years, all due to sheer negligence on part of Govt. of NCT of Delhi towards higher education. Even after 10 years of its foundation in 2007, construction of our college campus is yet to start.

How will we achieve your goals?

We have already started to bring the changes through our campaign and have come to a stage that now the Govt. officials have started listening to us. Our mission is to unite all the students and make them realise that we can make a difference if we all stand united and fight for our rights. The government is accountable to us and it must answer why the construction of our campus has not started yet? So far we have been able to bring some officials to the table to answer our questions and through our continuous efforts we believe that we will also be able to make them act upon it.

What can you do?

Become a part of this campaign and strengthen the movement to make others believe that their goals can be achieved if we all join hands together. Having your support will strengthen our struggle further. You should understand that we are not fighting for 2 extra rooms or 1 playground, we are demanding for an existence which have been denied to us for the past 10 years.
